Group artistic activity in la Tecla Sala
My group composed by Andrea Alaez, Ana Arrontes, Aina Bisbal, Laia Fàbregas, Raquel Carbajo
and me, Marta Arumí, have created the follow activity to take place in la Tecla Sala, an art center
located in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat in Barcelona.
After saying that, now we'll see what is our artistic activity about:
The activity would consist on the students having to reflect on their own identity in order to understand how
individualities can construct strong united communities with very diverse individuals, such as it is the case of the
class. In order to reinforce the identity value of the class, the students should design their own piece of cloth, to
after stick or sew together the different student’s cloths to create the flag of the class. Students would arrive to the
space wide range of materials being laid down, the needle and the string being the main focus and the centre of
them.
Concentrically around them there would be textile paint and glue, different coloured and materials pieces of cloth
and all kind of buttons and beads. Students should sit down in their groups (previously planned by the teacher)
and one by one, the members of the group should go and pickthe materials they’d like to use to create their
unique piece of cloth. After this, the students would have to design and develop their piece and after to stick the
pieces the altogether in order to create the flag of the class. Finally the students would have to assess their own
work.

Our Artistic Activity Unit will be held in Tecla Sala Museum and the activity will be focused on the exhibition
“Teixint identitats”. This exhibition consists of artworks made of cloth in order to promote the technique of sewing
in creative processes. The artworks were made by contemporary artists and were about issues of our current
world such as gender, identity and environmental problems.
Introduction
The activity will be for a class of 25 students more or less and the students will be from 5th or 6th grade.
The teachers needed will be one teacher. However, if there are students that need more attention, there will be more teachers.
The time required will be approximately 2 hours and a half in order to be able to see the exhibition properly and then, doing the activity.
The space will be the museum and for doing the activity it is necessary a room of the museum or if there are
good weather conditions it can be made outside.
The activity would consist on the students having to reflect on their own identity in order to understand how
individualities can construct strong united communities with very diverse individuals, such as it is the case of the
class. In order to reinforce the identity value of the class, the students should design their own piece of cloth, to

Objectives
The general objective of this activity is that the students work together in order to create whole cloth that defines their identity as a group class.
The specific objectives that are worked are:
-To use ecological materials in order to raise awareness of the climate crisis and use materials that don’t harm the environment.
-To help to work as a group which means to help each other in the actions they do, such as sew the fabrics.
-To work the human values through the cooperation, empathy and respect for the other classmates’ work.
-To apply the divergent thinking through the freedom that they have when they have to choose how they are going to represent their identity and what materials are they going to use.
Competencies
The competencies worked in this activity would be the followings:
- Show perception habits of consciousness of the visual reality of the cultural environment
- Use basic elements of visual and corporal language and strategies in order to comprehend and appreciate an artistic work
- Understand and value the significant elements of the close artistic heritage, as well as the Catalonian and worldwide art heritage
- Use the basic elements of visual language with artistic techniques and tools for expressing and communicating
- Improvising and creating with the elements and basic resources of the artistic language
Teacher's role
The strategies that the teacher would use throughout the activity would be:
-To previously plan and schedule the activity in order to take into account all the materials they'll need, the skills
they have to learn and how to help them, also to organize a plan B, if there are any unexpected events.
-To do a previous research of the objectives she or he wants to work with his or her students (such as values,
skills...), and also the curriculum competences that are going to be practiced.
-To innovate, to try to avoid doing the same type of activities because students will get tired of them and it's
important to make them to be enthusiastic about a topic, in this case about art and creating an own art fabric
that represents yourself.
-To teach and assess the activity, taking into account the previous items I've mentioned before (objectives,
competences...) and also the student's attitude, the students' feedback, the result, the difficulties they may have
experienced during the activity...
Assessment
The assessment will be focused on each kid as an individual, but also on their experience and capacities as a
group. The objects of the evaluation are the kids but also the activity itself. The assessment will be continuous, as
teachers will be using the method of observation throughout the task. When the activity is finally over, kids will
have to evaluate themselves and also the class as a group by filling a rubric which contains the different
objectives of the activity. They will have to write if they think they have fulfilled them, and if so, to which grade.
Also, they will have to give their opinion on the activity, what things could be improved, what things did they like,
what they did not, etc.
